West Fork National Scenic Bikeway

Overview

This is an easy paved path that leads from Highway 39 to the gates of the Cogswell Dam. Prior to 9/11 it may have been possible to access the dam, but today you can only get as close as the gate.

Still, the path is quite pleasant as it travels through the shade of trees which occasionally pull back to reveal the sky, or the high walls and slopes as you get further into the ride.

Running water breaks the silence as it flows down the creek which runs alongside the path. From time to time, there are signs leading to platforms for fishermen and available to the folks with disabilities. Riders will also come across the relatively well groomed Glenn Campground.

Near the end of the path you'll come across the Pasadena Bait Club House with various outbuildings. It was established in 1890 and built about 1919. After that, there is a very steep climb where you pass the heliport to reach the end of the path at the security gates.
