Stevenson Waterfront Hike

Overview

In the 19th century, little Stevenson, Washington, was a sternwheeler port, but in 1908, the Spokane, Portland, & Seattle Railroad displaced much of the waterfront development. With the popularity of windsurfing and kiteboarding, and with the town a major tourist destination, the waterfront now has a paved trail that runs between small, grassy parks with magnificent views to the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge . For a longer walk, you can begin at Stevenson’s Rock Creek Park, on the old mill pond at Rock Cove, and follow a trail around the county fairgrounds before reaching the main street and descending to the river.
