For 15 million years during the Eocene epoch, volcanic flows buried much of central eastern Oregon in what had been a tropical paradise. Tuff formations from this violent period can be seen along this short trail above Camp Creek in the Malheur National Forest. The star of the show is, of course, a tuff arch through which you can pass and then view from above. In late spring, a variety of wildflowers bloom along the trail.
