This short excursion in the Oregon Badlands Wilderness takes you to a cave once used by local indigenous peoples, perhaps as a shelter for hunters when water was available. The cave is located in the shallow canyon of the Dry River, scoured out by torrents of spillwater over the lava dam at Ice Age Lake Millican to the southeast. The spates then joined the Crooked River. This was lusher country back then, but the cave, with its faded pictographs, may have been used until fairly recently.
