Chimney Rock Hike

Overview

South of Prineville, the Crooked River, in a stretch declared a national wild and scenic river, runs between tall basalt canyon walls. On the hike to Chimney Rock , you can rise above those walls to get views to the snowy peaks of Oregon’s central Cascades. The months of May and June, when temperatures are still cool and wildflowers are at their best, are the optimal times to visit.
