Buena Vista Overlook Hike

Overview

Rocky Buena Vista Butte overlooks the Buena Vista Canal and the extensive marshes of the Blitzen River valley in the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Visitors can actually drive to a viewing area on the butte and peruse the expanse before them. Interpretive signs explain the natural history of the area. Alternatively, you can hike the short trail to the upper parking area and enjoy the desert vegetation before scoping out the watery expanses.
