Lemolo Falls via North Umpqua Trail Hike

Overview

Lemolo Falls is the tallest waterfall on the North Umpqua River, and it’s hard to believe that, before the construction of the Lemolo Dam upstream, the falls conveyed several times the volume of water they do now. The Forest Service has these falls listed as 102 feet, but the Northwest Waterfall Survey claims them to be 165 feet high. There are two main ways to get to Lemolo Falls : (1) via a short but very steep trail (Lemolo Falls Trail #1468) on the south bank of the river that is reached by bumpy gravel roads; or (2) via the North Umpqua Trail on the north bank of the river, reached by paved roads. This description follows the latter route.
