LeBlanc Point isn't named on any maps, but it sticks out as a knoll on Summit Ridge above Hells Canyon and the views are magnificent. A carved wood sign on a tree at the point, provenance unknown, gives the knoll a moniker. The hike here, either a day hike or a one-nighter, follows Lord Flat Road, a.k.a. the Western Rim National Recreation Trail. The views along the route are spectacular, and from LeBlanc Point , you'll get a taste of some of the best views in Hells Canyon , down North Temperance Creek to the Seven Devils in Idaho. The road itself has to be shared with the occasional ORV or AWD vehicle, but you'll generally be alone. A campsite on the knoll offers amazing night skies, and you can pick up drinking water at a piped spring just below Indian Grave Saddle , right before you arrive at LeBlanc Point . While following the road does not present much difficulty, be aware that the area was most recently burned over by the 2022 Double Creek Fire.
