Hidden Falls from Grouse Vista Hike

Overview

The five-mile section of the Tarbell Trail between the Grouse Vista Trailhead and Hidden Falls has been heavily logged in the last decade, with large clearcuts taking the place of shady mature forest over much of the route. The up side of all this logging is a more varied landscape, with an explosion of sun-loving plants in the clearcuts and an opening up of views north to Mount Saint Helens . This hike will take you away from the crowds on Silver Star Mountain itself, and the season for hiking this route is longer, sometimes even a possibility in winter if snow levels remain high. Note that you can also reach Hidden Falls from the Tarbell Trailhead . The latter hike is about the same length but from a lower trailhead with a few hundred feet less elevation gain (see the Tarbell Trail to Hidden Falls Hike ).
