Drake Peak Hike

Overview

There are actually three Drake “peaks.” The Drake Peak Lookout sits at the end of one of Oregon’s highest roads on Peak 8222. A little to the northeast is the Drake triangulation point, named Light Peak on maps, at 8,325 feet. Drake Peak itself (8,407 feet) is farther east, a 600 foot easy cross-country ascent from a saddle. From all three peaks, views extend in all directions, from Mount Shasta in the California Cascades and Crane Mountain farther south in the Warner Mountains east to Steens Mountain .
