Overview
The Appaloosa Trail, inaugurated in 2021, joins the Silver Shadow Trail, opened in 2109, to offer a loop hike/bike/ride up from Rock Creek Horse Camp to Hidden Falls . The trail, as elsewhere in the Yacolt Burn State Forest, follows a patchwork of creek corridors, clearcuts, old logging roads, and same-age Douglas-fir plantations, with the mature versions of the latter – unfortunately due for logging sometime soon – being the highlight. The only views are from clearcuts, so this is a good hike for a rainy day or the winter months.
