Pearsoney Falls Hike

Overview

Formerly the Prospect State Scenic Viewpoint, the wayside and trail to this pretty 12-foot waterfall on Mill Creek is now managed by Jackson County Parks. This waterfall experience is a much safer outing for families with young kids than Mill Creek Falls downstream. You can continue past the waterfall to a clifftop viewpoint of the Rogue River’s Avenue of the Boulders , where massive rocks once embedded in Mount Mazama ash have been exposed and worn smooth by river action. The waterfall is spelled both as Pearsony and Pearsoney, the name supposedly an amalgamation of Pearson and Mooney, two early settlers in the area.
