This short loop on the basalt peninsula which forms a 180-degree incised meander in the path of the Crooked River gives you views of the tuff walls that attract climbers from all over the world and takes you atop the lava flows that appeared much later in the geologic history of the area. While the descent to the Crooked River may be crowded, once you get on the Homestead and North Point trails, there’s a little less of the crush of humanity which makes this state park one of the most popular destinations in Oregon.
