Mount Ashland Loop Hike

Overview

In the summer, you can drive to the summit of Mount Ashland , the highest peak in the Siskiyou Mountains, but where’s the fun in that? There’s only one trail to the top, the one-mile Summit Trail departing from the ski area parking lot. To make a loop from the summit, which affords far-reaching views in all directions, you’ll have to follow a road down to FR 20, which you’ll use to access the Pacific Crest Trail. The PCT then conveys you eastward across a series of lush wildflower meadows to another road. From here, it’s about ¾ mile on roads back to the ski area.
