Molten Land Loop Hike

Overview

Paved paths lead out from the Lava Lands Visitor Center in the Newberry Volcanic National Monument. You can take the Trail of the Whispering Pines along the base of a 7,000-year-old lava flow to join the Trail of the Molten Land where it ascends the flow. Lava Butte , from which the flow issued, forms the cinder come above. The Trail of the Whispering Pines and the first part of the Trail of the Molten Land are accessible.
