House Rock Loop Hike

Overview

This short loop begins near the confluence of Sheep Creek and the South Santiam River and includes a lush old-growth temperate rain forest, river views and a significant waterfall, and a short stretch of the historic Santiam Wagon Road. In late spring, the forest wildflowers are abundant. If you visit before the House Rock Campground is opened in early May, you’ll need to walk an extra 0.4 miles (round-trip) down the entry road. For a longer hike, begin at the Mountain House Trailhead (see the Santiam Wagon Road Hike ).
