Hiouchi Trail Hike

Overview

While there are plenty of big redwoods along this trail, the bonus is that you’re also hiking close to the Smith River and will be able to access the shore at a couple of points. The trail is, like most redwood trails, rooty and sometimes uneven. In summer, there’s a temporary bridge in place across the river that forms a connection with the park campground. Most months of the year, you can also wade the mouth of Mill Creek to visit the always crowded Stout Grove.
