LaPine is the 8th largest state park in Oregon at 2,333 acres. The Deschutes River splits the park, and there are worthy loops on both sides of the river. North of the river, where there’s also an extensive and popular campground, three loop trails can be combined to form a larger outing: the Deschutes River Loop, the McGregor Loop, and the Fall River Loop. You will be hiking along stretches of two rivers and visiting a waterfall at the top of the loop. The terrain is very gentle and, once away from the campground, you’ll encounter few other humans. For the other loop in LaPine State Park, see the Big Pine Loop Hike .
