Bonny Lakes Hike

Overview

This is a pleasant and fairly gradual excursion into the heart of the Eagle Cap Wilderness from the Tenderfoot Trailhead . The hike generally follows near the course of the Middle Fork Big Sheep Creek, which you will have to cross twice to reach your destination. The modern ambience is somewhat marred by the effects of the 2022 Nebo Fire, which burned along most of the route until about 0.7 miles south of Bonny Lakes . In addition, the effects 1989 Canal Fire are still obvious in the first few miles from the trailhead. The lakes themselves, however, remain nestled next to high, lush alpine meadows and offer a perfect base camp for further explorations. Mosquitoes can be an issue for the first half of summer.
