Steelman Lake Hike

Overview

Steelman Lake is a rather murky, shallow lake that forms, with the West Arm and Wagonwheel Hole, an open expanse that is dammed at the Sturgeon Lake Narrows . The lake is fringed with wapato, a first food with large arrow-shaped leaves that blooms in summer. The walk takes you south along a large mowed meadow and back, giving opportunities to spot waterfowl and pelicans on the lake while raptors glide overhead.
