Jubilee Lake Loop Hike

Overview

A level path takes visitors around Jubilee Lake , the Umatilla National Forest’s most popular recreation area. The lake itself has only existed since 1968, when an earth dam was constructed across Mottet Creek. Prior to that, a father and son had spent almost nine months logging out the trees from the future lake bed. It took five years for the lake to fill. Jubilee Lake is rather quiet for a recreational lake as only electric motors are allowed, but the area is especially popular on summer weekends. There’s a large day use area with many picnic tables and an expansive campground that is open from July to mid-October. The lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout.
