Corral Springs Hike

Overview

The Corral Springs Trail dead ends at the Roaring River at a remote spot in the heart of the Roaring River Wilderness. It is a steep plunge down the into the deep river valley, almost 2,200 feet, which has to be made up on the return. However, by the 1990s, the trail had disappeared from topo maps, and the trail seemed destined for the grave. Surprisingly, in 2022, the Forest Service logged out the length of the trail, which is still very brushy and sometimes obscure at its lower end. Nevertheless, the remoteness of this section of the Roaring River, as well as the subtle features of the hike, make it a worthwhile outing.
