Table Mountain , with its sheer, exposed south face, is one of the most distinctive landmarks on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge . A 15th century landslide carried a massive chunk of Table Mountain southward to temporarily dam the Columbia River at the historical Bridge of the Gods . The hike to the summit ridge is a very popular conditioning hike, and reopening of the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort and Spa in February 2025 has made it far more accessible, so do expect crowds on weekends! (The resort allows hikers to park its back parking area as long as they pay the $10 fee.) The summit area of Table Mountain displays wildflowers in the spring as well as great views of the Columbia River from east to west. Look for a fantastic perspective of the Eagle Creek Gorge extending from the Bonneville Dam way below you towards Mount Hood , which will be peeking over the southern horizon on a clear day. Other landmarks on the Oregon side of the Gorge, as well as the modern Bridge of the Gods , are also visible.
