This is the straightforward way to Mine Peak, highest point on the west end of the Coyote Mountains. It basically a scramble along a ridge with a semblance of an actual trail in parts. There are nice views in all directions with windmills near Ocotillo to the southeast. The views get much more interesting about a quarter of the way in when one can see north towards to the wrinkled Carrizo Badlands.

The 360 degree view from Mine Peak on clear day is one of the best in the entire Anza-Borrego. Clockwise from Carrizo Badlands lie the Salton Sink and Yuha desert to the northeast and southeast respectively. Continuing clockwise are the the Jacumba, In-Ko-Pah, and Tierra Blanca mountains, south the west.

You can either return the way that you came, or make a much larger loop.
Entering Sin Nombre Canyon.
